Nothing Can Separate

“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:38–39 · NKJV

Paul goes looking for something that could pry you away from the love of God, and he searches everywhere. Death and life. Angels and powers. The present and the future. Height and depth. Then he closes the last exit: nor any other created thing. That includes you on your worst day.

Notice where the love lives. It is in Christ Jesus our Lord. God’s love for you is anchored in His Son, not in your consistency. That is why it cannot be shaken loose. The thing holding it never changes.

I am persuaded, Paul says. Not I hope, not I am trying to believe. Persuaded. Settled. Convinced. That same settled confidence is your inheritance, because the love that found you will not lose you.

Nothing in all creation can separate you from the love of God in Christ. Nothing includes today.
