Grace Doesn’t Mix

“And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.”

Romans 11:6 · NKJV

Paul draws a hard line: if by grace, then it is no longer of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace. Grace and earning cannot share the same foundation. The moment you add a requirement, you have not strengthened grace. You have dissolved it.

This is why the mixture never brings peace. A gospel that is mostly grace with a little performance stirred in will always leave you watching your own contribution, and your contribution will always look thin. Mixture produces anxiety because it puts the outcome partly back on you.

But salvation was grace from the first word to the last. God did not meet you halfway. He came all the way, in Christ, and gave what you could not earn. Let grace be grace. It is enough, because He is.

Grace is not the starter kit you finish with effort. It is the whole foundation. Let grace be grace.
