Sealed

“In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.”

Ephesians 1:13 · NKJV

Trace the order Paul lays out. You heard the word of truth. You believed. You were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. Hearing, trusting, sealed. Nowhere in that sequence is a probation period or a performance review.

A seal in Paul’s world meant ownership and security. The King has marked you as His, and the mark is not ink. It is the Spirit Himself, living in you. God did not stick a note on your life. He moved in.

That means your belonging is not up for daily renegotiation. The seal was applied the moment you believed, and it holds because the One who sealed you keeps His promises. You are marked, owned, and kept.

You were sealed the moment you believed. God’s Spirit in you is His own guarantee that you are His.
