The Father of Lights

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”

James 1:17 · NKJV

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above. James wants you to know where goodness comes from, and where it does not. God is not the sender of your suffering with a hidden invoice attached. He is the Father of lights, the giver of every good thing in your life.

And unlike the lights He made, He does not flicker. No variation or shadow of turning. The sun rises and sets, seasons shift, your circumstances swing wildly. The Father does not. His posture toward you at your lowest is identical to His posture at your best.

So when life gets dark, do not re-read God through the darkness. Read the darkness through the God who gives good gifts and never changes. The shadows are real, but none of them are His.

Every good gift is from your Father, and He never wavers. Read your circumstances through His goodness, not the other way around.
