Much More
“For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.”
Romans 5:10 · NKJV
Paul argues from the harder thing to the easier thing. The hard thing has already happened: while we were enemies, God reconciled us to Himself through the death of His Son. He did not wait for a truce. He made peace at the cross while we were still opposed.
Now comes the logic of grace: much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. If His death could reach you at your worst, His risen life can certainly keep you now. The God who paid the highest price for you as an enemy will not lose interest in you as a son or daughter.
Your security does not rest on maintaining your side of the arrangement. It rests on those two words: much more.
The hard part is finished. The One who reconciled you as an enemy keeps you by His life as His child.
