Abba, Father

“And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!””

Galatians 4:6 · NKJV

Read the order carefully. The Spirit does not produce the sonship. The sonship comes first, and the Spirit comes to let you feel what is already true.

Abba is the intimate word, the word of a child who has never doubted the right to climb into the father's lap. That cry now rises from inside you, and it is not self-talk. It is the Spirit of the Son Himself, praying His own favorite word through your heart.

Servants calculate standing. Children simply belong. When you find yourself reaching for God without rehearsing your case first, that is the Spirit's cry working. Let it.

The Spirit in you cries Abba because you already belong. Come to God today like a child, not an applicant.
