Brought Near

“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.”

Ephesians 2:13 · NKJV

Two little words carry the whole gospel: but now. There was a far off, and it is over.

Look at the verb. Brought near. Something done to you and for you. You did not inch your way toward God through years of devotion and discipline. You were carried near, and the carrying cost was His blood.

Which means the nearness holds on your scattered days exactly as it holds on your strong ones. Blood-bought nearness does not fluctuate. You are near because He bled, and that can never be undone.

Your nearness to God was purchased, not earned, so it cannot be unearned. You live near.
