Once for All
“Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.”
Hebrews 9:12 · NKJV
Every phrase retires something. His own blood retires the goats and calves. Once for all retires the annual repetition. Eternal retires the expiration date.
The old priests went in yearly because the work was never done. Jesus went in once because His work finished it. And what He obtained is called eternal redemption. Redemption with no renewal clause, no maintenance schedule, no anxious anniversary.
Most of us live with God like this. A hard conversation goes badly, you snap at your kids, you lie awake replaying it, and by morning you feel like you need to get right with Him again before the day can start. That instinct is the old system still running in your head: another animal, another year, another trip back to the altar. The apology to your kids still belongs to the morning, but the altar does not. The offering that covered you was not rationed out in yearly portions. It was given once, whole, and it was enough.
You do not wake up each morning needing redemption re-secured. It was obtained, past tense, by Someone whose offering does not wear out. Your standing is as permanent as His blood is precious.
Your redemption is eternal because His offering was once for all. Nothing about today can expire it.
