The Same Forever
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
Hebrews 13:8 · NKJV
Eight words, and they hold more security than every other promise people chase. Everything else in your life changes: health, income, relationships, even your own moods before lunch.
But the One who received sinners, touched lepers, and defended the woman the crowd wanted to stone has not modified His character since. The compassion you read about in the Gospels is not a historical exhibit. It is His present disposition toward you.
Most of us carry a quiet suspicion that Jesus is kind to other people and merely patient with us. We picture Him warm toward the woman at the well and cool toward the believer who keeps failing at the same thing. But there is no second version of Jesus reserved for the one who keeps coming back with the same failure. The face He turned toward Zacchaeus is the face He turns toward you on the morning you wake up ashamed of last night. Same eyes. Same welcome. Same yesterday, today, and forever.
And forever means your future is as safe as your past is forgiven. Whatever tomorrow holds, it holds a Christ identical to the One who has already been faithful.
The Jesus who was gracious yesterday is gracious today and will be forever. Anchor there.
