Where You Stand
“through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
Romans 5:2 · NKJV
Paul does not describe grace as a mood or a season. He describes it as a standing place, and he says you are standing in it.
Access came through Him. You did not talk your way in, and you are not holding your position by staying impressive. Faith is simply how you came, and the ground did not turn conditional after you arrived.
Many of us treat grace like a hotel room. We are grateful to be inside, but we keep glancing at the clock, half expecting the knock that says our stay is over. After a bad week, after the argument, after the prayer we never got around to, the knock feels closer. Paul's word is stand, and it describes ground, not a reservation. You did not book this, and you are not running out the clock on it. You are standing on ground God laid, and He is not planning to pull it out from under you.
And rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Hope in Scripture is not wishing. It is confident expectation about something already secured. You can look forward without bracing, because the One who gave you the ground also guaranteed the destination.
You are standing in grace right now. The ground under you was never yours to hold up.
