Sealed and Guaranteed

“Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.”

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 · NKJV

Count the verbs and notice who the subject is every single time.

Establishes. Anointed. Sealed. Given. A seal in the ancient world meant ownership and protection, and it was never something the property applied to itself. God set His mark on you, and the mark is His own Spirit.

Some of us live as though God might still return the item. We treat salvation like a purchase with a thirty-day window, and every hard season feels like the moment He might decide it was a mistake. Paul's language shuts that door. God does not seal something He is thinking about sending back. He does not put His own Spirit inside a person as a trial arrangement. The seal says whose you are, and the deposit says He intends to finish what He started. Neither one depends on how steady you felt this month. The seal holds because the One who set it keeps it.

And the Spirit is called a guarantee, a first installment on everything still to come. God does not put down a deposit He intends to forfeit. What He began in you He has already backed with Himself.

You are sealed and God left a deposit. He is not walking away from what He paid for.
