Kept
“who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
1 Peter 1:5 · NKJV
Peter uses a military word for kept. It means guarded, garrisoned, watched over by a power that does not tire.
The power of God does the keeping, not your grip, your consistency, or the strength of your faith on a hard night. Faith is how you receive that keeping, not what makes it work.
There will be nights when your faith feels like a thread. The diagnosis, the phone call, the season when prayer is mostly silence and the promises you used to quote feel far away. On those nights you fear the circumstance, and you also fear that you might let go of God. Peter wrote to scattered believers already grieving through various trials, and he told them the keeping was not up to their grip. A guard on duty does not stop guarding because the one inside is tired. The power of God keeps watch.
And the salvation is described as ready. Not still being assembled, not contingent on a strong finish. Ready, waiting to be revealed, kept for you while you are kept for it.
You are guarded by the power of God, and He is the One holding this together.
